Four pillars of integrity...Character, Virtue, Excellence, and Expectation

In today's society, where authenticity and moral integrity are valued more than ever, the role of political leaders in standing by their values and beliefs has become increasingly scrutinized. Kamala's recent statement on her unchanging values has sparked a wave of discussions, leading many to question the consistency and authenticity behind her rhetoric.

Unveiling the Deception: Inconsistent Rhetoric vs Reality

During Kamala's recent interview with Dana Bash, she stated "My values have not changed." Her emphasis on unchanging values raises significant questions about the authenticity of her politics and the manipulation behind what she says politically versus what she does and has done as a legislator and current Vice President. While public figures often project an image of steadfastness in their beliefs, the reality behind their actions tells a different story. Are Kamala's values truly unchanging, or is this statement merely a facade to portray a sense of moral authenticity in order to secure political favorability and electoral victory?

This bold declaration not only sheds light on her perceived consistency but also prompts a deeper analysis of her political persona. The notion of unchanging values in the realm of politics raises intriguing questions about the intersection of personal beliefs and public image. It beckons us to ponder the authenticity of Kamala's political stance and the potential dissonance between her rhetoric and actions.

Public figures, especially politicians, often strive to present a narrative of unwavering principles to garner trust and support from the electorate. However, the discrepancy between what is professed and what is practiced can unveil a complex web of intentions and strategies. In Kamala's case, her assertion invites scrutiny into the congruence of her stated values with her legislative decisions and political machinations.

Delving deeper into the dichotomy between public projection and political reality, one might question whether Kamala's emphasis on unchanging values serves as a genuine reflection of her moral compass or is a calculated maneuver to cultivate a specific public image. The juxtaposition of her words with her deeds invites us to contemplate the intricate dynamics of political authenticity versus rhetorical manipulation.

Ultimately, the statement "My values have not changed" acts as a catalyst for a nuanced exploration of Kamala's political identity and the intricate interplay between rhetoric and action in the realm of public service. It beckons us to critically examine the authenticity of political figures and the complexities that underlie their professed beliefs.

The Flawed Narrative of Unchanging Values

It is essential to distinguish between the rhetoric of unchanging values and the practical application of this expression in professional politics. Kamala's claim of unwavering values may seem reassuring on the surface, but upon closer inspection, it reveals a narrative filled with contradictions and inconsistencies rooted in a history of reckless progressive policies reinforced by a firm and undeniable commitment to liberal ideology.

Past vs Present: A Closer Examination of Kamala's Values

To better understand the dynamics at play, it is crucial to delve into Kamala's past actions and statements to compare them with her current portrayal of unchanging values.

With the eyes of the nation upon her at the 2024 Democratic National Convention, Kamala unleashed a barrage of progressive affirmations that seemed to check all the boxes to gain the approval and applause of the thirty-thousand attendees in the stands and the scores of Democrats watching on TV nationally.

In her acceptance speech, she passionately reflected upon the experiences of her family upbringing and the influences that made her who she is today. Early on, while celebrating the inspiring words of her mother, she recalled when her mother told her and her sister "to never complain about injustice but do something about it...do something about it..." Shortly thereafter, she segued to a story about her best friend Wanda who was a victim of family sexual abuse. The highlight from this story, which she cited as an experience that inspired her to pursue law and to become a criminal prosecutor, was when she said the following:

This is one of the reasons I became a prosecutor, to protect people like Wanda because I believe everyone has a right to safety, dignity, and justice....A harm against any one of us is a harm against all of us.

As commendable and refreshing as this sounds for Kamala, the realities reflect otherwise. Fast forward to when she was the San Francisco District Attorney, Kamala oversaw numerous high-profile cases involving the sexual abuse scandal that rocked the Catholic Church.

Following Kamala's DNC speech, Bishopaccountability.org issued a scathing article summarizing Kamala's role, or the lack thereof, in the Catholic Church scandal while serving as the San Francisco District Attorney. Titled Fact Check: Kamala Harris Covered Up Sexual Abuse Allegations as a Prosecutor Before Claiming to Fight for Victims at DNC, the excerpt below from the article delves into Kamala's damaging track record:

During Harris’s 13-year tenure as district attorney and then attorney general, she failed to prosecute even one case of priest sexual abuse, even as at least 50 major cities brought charges against priests in the same period.

They’re full of shit,” Joey Piscitelli, SNAP northwest regional director, told Peter Schweizer, a Breitbart News senior contributor and author of Profiles in Corruption: Abuse of Power by America’s Progressive Elite

You can quote me on that. They’re not protecting the victims, Piscitelli said of Harris’s office.

Rick Simons, an attorney who represented victims of clergy sexual abuse in California, said Harris’s action of covering up documents on the cases “shows a pattern and practice and policy of ignoring the rights of children by one of the largest institutions of the city and county of San Francisco, and in the Bay Area.”

[Victim groups] were outraged by her actions, Schweizer argued. Far from protecting victims, they argued, the cover-up was actually protecting the abusers by keeping their alleged crimes secret.

The feel-good stories from Kamala's youth that were presented earlier quickly fade amidst the egregious counter narrative she created in her failure to defend and protect the victims of clergy sexual abuse during her time as San Francisco District Attorney. This story alone evidences the schism that exists between the feel-good rhetoric she uses in her superwoman portrayal and the flawed reality in her failure to live up to the lofty image she propagates for herself. In the next example, I shall revisit my article from last month titled Kamala's Nigerian Christian Persecution Problem is a Disqualifier.

After meeting with the President and Vice President of Nigeria, a country torn asunder by sectarian violence and bloodshed where "52,000 Nigerian Christians were slaughtered by Islamists from 2009-2022. During this same period, over 18,000 Churches and 2,200 Christian schools were destroyed or damaged by arson."

The White House readouts from these meetings reflect numerous topics discussed, but no mention of Christian persecution and atrocities. Let's go back to those famous words she quoted in her DNC speech where she said her mother taught her, "to never complain about injustice but do something about it...do something about it..." And yet, decades later, while meeting with Nigerian leaders as Vice President of the United States, she failed to "do something" or even say something to advocate for Nigerian Christians, who continue to be persecuted and slaughtered by Islamic radicals. Nor does she pursue the legislative option of rallying Congress to support Representative Smith's timely resolution calling for a special envoy to Nigeria who would be authorized to exert U.S. diplomatic and economic pressure with its international partners to help quell anti-Christian aggression. Clearly, she had every opportunity to do something to proactively respond to the bloodshed, but the official record presents an unforgiving reality for which Kamala must be held accountable.

Lastly, Kamala's support of electric vehicle mandates (EV) is well documented. However, this. to the surprise of many, seems to be in transition. For long, she has been a staunch advocate of electric vehicles due to her Climate Change commitments, but as recently as this past Tuesday (September 3rd), when asked for her position on this issue, she declined to comment. This is a complete reversal from her aggressively outspoken approach to a policy priority that was the basis for her Zero-Emission Vehicles Act that she spearheaded in 2019. This sudden about-face was best captured in a September 4th Washington Free Beacon Article, Kamala Harris Won't Say Whether She Would Sign Her Own EV Mandate Bill:

Months after she announced in January 2019 that she would run for president, Harris cosponsored the Zero-Emission Vehicles Act, a bill that was later modified to include language mandating that 43 percent of car sales be electric by 2027 and 100 percent be electric by 2035. That language closely aligns with the language the state of California and other Democratic-led states have codified mandating EVs.

Harris also vowed during the campaign to implement climate policies ensuring 50 percent of all new passenger vehicles sold are EVs by 2030 and 100 percent are EVs by 2035, an archived version of her campaign website shows. She also backed a mandate requiring all new vehicle purchases for corporate fleets, transportation networks, and heavy-duty vehicles be electric by 2030, a policy that would be, by far, the most aggressive of its kind worldwide.

The examples above provide a snapshot of Kamala's historical track record that paints a picture that is seemingly at odds with her recent declaration of unchanging values. By juxtaposing her past versus present stances, a stark contrast emerges, revealing inconsistencies and contradictions that are indefensible and impossible to ignore.

Understanding the Dangers of Moral Apathy

During a time when moral apathy and indifference is widespread, the idea of consistent values shines as a symbol of assurance. Nevertheless, failing to act upon these principles can cast suspicion on the genuine nature and convictions of individuals in high-office and influential roles. Kamala's situation serves as a warning to political leaders about the hazards of declaring unwavering values without backing them up with concrete actions given ones status and ability to effectuate positive change.

The Mirage of Authenticity

In a world where authenticity is a prized virtue, the gap between rhetoric and reality becomes even more pronounced. Kamala's struggle to embody the values she espouses exposes the deceptive nature of performative righteousness, where words fail to translate into meaningful actions.

The Call for Change: Embracing Authenticity as a Pathway to Effective Leadership

As consumers of information and citizens of a global community, we have a responsibility to hold our leaders to account and demand transparency and consistency in their conduct. Kamala's unchanging values statement serves as a reminder of the importance of looking beyond surface-level affirmations and political pontifications for correspondence and consistency between past and present, words and action, and integrity without compromise in those who wield influence and yet seek the public's support.

Moving forward, it is imperative that we challenge the status quo of unchanging values and embrace a paradigm shift towards a more authentic and accountable leadership ethos. By demanding greater levels of transparency and aligning rhetoric with actions, we can create a more honest and principled society that prioritizes integrity over illusion thereby making it the norm and expectation rather than the exception.

Kamala's deceptive discourse is a cautionary tale about the moral hazards that infuse and infect political speech resulting in distrust, cynicism, and apathy. By scrutinizing the gap between rhetoric and reality collectively, we can pave the way for a more honest, authentic, and ethical political ethos where leaders are held to a higher standard of accountability and transparency. Let this be our guide as we strive to uphold integrity in governance and elections in order to promote and protect American exceptionalism without compromising our principles, virtues, and values. In the end, we need to be relentless in our efforts to maintain our standard as the best that democracy has to offer under our highly envied Constitutional Republic. In so doing, we can happily and wholeheartedly reject the comfort of Kamala's "unchanging values without substance" rhetoric while promoting a society where words and deeds align seamlessly thereby guiding us towards a more principled and authentic existence.

To be persuasive we must be believable; to be believable we must be credible; credible we must be truthful. — Edward R. Murrow

In July of 2023, Vice President Kamala Harris

The vice president strongly condemned any efforts to seize power by force in Niger, and emphasized that our substantial cooperation with the government of Niger is contingent on Niger’s continued commitment to democratic standards," the White House said on Thursday(1).

Despite efforts by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), the coup ultimately unseated President Mohamed Bazoum and resulted in him being taken hostage by rival forces. Kamala's attempt to quell the sedition was inconsequential, but fast forward to today and this momentary intervention effort could have serious political ramifications for 2024 and beyond.

In 2021, the Biden Administration removed Nigeria from the government's watch list, a move that caused much angst and consternation for numerous international watchdog organizations. In a June 18, 2024 commentary that appeared on the Alliance Defending Freedom International's website, Sean Nelson, Legal Counsel for ADF, underscores the importance of this very crucial policy reversal in his article, Why Nigeria is the Most Dangerous Country in the World for Christians(2):

The U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) has long recommended that Nigeria be placed on the U.S. government’s watch list of the worst countries in the world for religious freedom. We strongly agree with this recommendation. But the U.S. State Department under the Biden administration removed Nigeria from the government watch list in 2021 without any clear reason.

The decision was outrageous. Certainly, the most dangerous country in the world for Christians should be recognized and designated that way by the U.S. government. These long-suffering Nigerian Christians deserve to have the international community on their side.

Nelson's article and disdain stem from the gruesome realities of Nigeria's extreme sectarian violence. The Islamic aggression against Nigerian Christians has been so horrific that many are understandably calling this Christian genocide. Earlier in his commentary, Nelson makes this crystal clear with alarming data and descriptive first-hand accounts:

But one country in particular, Nigeria, is the most dangerous country in the world for Christians. In 2022, roughly 5,000 Christians were murdered for their faith – more than the number killed in all other countries combined. For 2023, one estimate put the number of Christians targeted and killed in Nigeria at over 7,000.

The severe Christian persecution in Nigeria, particularly in the northern regions, makes it the most dangerous country in the world for Christians. I recently travelled to Nigeria and saw the effects of persecution firsthand. Let me share them with you:

...Churches face discrimination, false accusations, and destruction. In fact, one evangelist named Daniel Kefee was charged with kidnapping for helping a young Christian convert woman find safety. With our support, local allied lawyers were able to free him and win his case.

These facts are horrific, inhumane, and cry out for international attention and action from governments worldwide. In fact, Christian atrocities in Nigeria have been well documented where over 52,000 Nigerian Christians were slaughtered by Islamists from 2009-2022. During this same period, over 18,000 Churches and 2,200 Christian schools were destroyed or damaged by arson(3).

The slaughter of 5000 Christian Nigerians in 2022 is particularly significant because of the Biden decision in 2021 to remove Nigeria from the government's watchlist. This backdrop is critically important because in September 2022 and July 2023, Vice President Harris met with Nigerian Vice President Osinjajo(4) and President Tinubu(5) on two separate occasions. The White House readouts for both meetings identify the key topics discussed as summarized in the following:

  • Harris affirmed the enduring strategic partnership between the United States and Nigeria.

  • Vice President Harris reiterated the Biden-Harris Administrations commitment to address the global food crisis, noting that the United States has committed more than $7 billion in food security and humanitarian assistance to African countries since last October.

  • Free and fair elections in 2023 and a safe electoral process.

  • Vice President Harris welcome the Government of Nigeria's recent launch of its Energy Transition Plan.

  • Vice President Harris also discussed Nigeria's complex security challenges and affirmed US cooperation to counter terrorism.

  • Both leaders discussed the deteriorating security environment in the Sahel and agreed to work together to address terrorism in the region.

  • Harris and Tinubu underscored their shared commitment to defending democracy in West Africa and the Sahel and deep concern about the attempted takeover in Niger.

  • Public Private partnerships between both countries to increase private sector investment, digital inclusion, women's empowerment, and expand access to clean energy.

  • Harris highlighted the deep ties between the United States and Nigeria, including people-to-people connections and the Diaspora.

Between the two meetings, Harris seemingly covered numerous topics of importance to both nations. The list of items covered went from the general to the very specific. What seems to be overlooked or lacking with specific details, unlike some of the other items enumerated above, is the dark cloud of Christian genocide in Nigeria. Whether it was not discussed altogether, vaguely discussed, or addressed off-the-record is unclear, but guilt by indifference and inaction is Kamala's big dilemma and burden to bear given the apparent silence and lack of redress.

Again, compare this to not only Kamala's public statement on the coup in Niger that I highlighted in the opening, but here recently, Vice President Harris explicitly stated the following about the U.S'. role and responsibility in the Israeli-Gaza conflict:

To be empathetic to someone that you’re shooting in the head is not exactly laudable. We don’t need empathy from these people. We need them to stop providing the weapons and the money that is actively killing the people that they’re supposedly empathising with.

If Harris' hands-off approach to discussing Christian genocide in Nigeria during meetings with her Nigerian counterparts is indeed true, which seems to be the case based on official documents and internet news stories, Christians, African Americans, and especially Nigerian Christians should be appalled and offended. This collective deserves and should demand a thorough explanation at the least.

As for Harris, her moral compass needs to be recalibrated as evidenced by her ongoing unresponsiveness and the amount of time that has elapsed since her meetings with Nigerian leaders. Even Harris supporters find her silence and invisibility unacceptable as captured in the WGBH commentary, Kamala Harris has nearly disappeared into the background:

[S]he seems to have disappeared. The president assigned her immigration, but on his first trip to the southern border, she was not there. And while the president’s approval ratings are low, hers have plummeted.

Still, I’m resentful that the volume of Vice President Kamala Harris’ voice — if not silenced — has been turned down to a whisper at a time when the issues facing this country are noisy and raucous. Whether it’s her choice or a decision from on high, diminishing her role is not the way to go.(6)

The Harris supporter's confession is a major blemish to Kamala's political reputation. The writer's comments echo what many already believe about her unsuitability as a Presidential candidate, and the Nigerian account alone is a crippling blow to her POTUS aspirations.

Because of the gravity of this issue, this story should not rest with the media or voters for the remainder of this election cycle. Religious persecution with utterances of genocide is too serious to dismiss or ignore as a topic for the media and for international policy considerations. Given the traumatic realities and facts surrounding Nigerian Christian suffrage, Harris appears incapable of confronting moral crisis and advocating for victims of gross and "systemic" evil without political bias. This indeed smacks of moral failure, political ineptness, and is unbecoming of someone who is the current Vice President aspiring to be elected to the highest office in the land. The following quote from The Hill article in March of this year, Hold Nigeria accountable for its failure to stop internal religious violence by Congressman John Rose (R-Tenn.) and William Roberts, magnifies Kamala's impoverished moral and political rectitude and affirms my position that Kamala has a "Nigerian Christian Persecution Problem":

Even more disturbing are reports of the Nigerian military running an illegal clandestine abortion program in which the freed sex slaves were, many without knowledge they were even pregnant, forced to undergo deadly chemical abortions. Reports estimate that a minimum of 7,000 abortions were performed between 2013 and 2021. The Nigerian authorities view the victims with hostility, and their unborn children — ostensibly the children of Islamist militants — are treated as threats to be eradicated. The Nigerian government has vigorously denied this allegation, although international pressure did lead to an investigation by a Nigerian human rights commission that is unlikely to lead to any accountability(7)

Kevin Clarke's outstanding article, After Christmas attacks on Christians, Nigerian bishops raise concerns of Islamist agenda—and government complicity, not only chronicles the atrocious sectarian conditions in Nigeria, but he also provides a refreshing call to action globally. The quote below is indeed lengthy, but it is too rich informationally to shorten at the risk of losing valuable meaning and context.

Political leaders in the United States could do much more to come to the aid of Nigeria’s Christians, Mr. Koopman says. A House resolution that calls for the appointment of a special envoy for Nigeria and the Lake Chad region has been sponsored by Representative Chris Smith, a New Jersey House Republican. That envoy “would have the authority to call the U.S. government to action, for example by wielding diplomatic leverage or by using economic pressure,” Mr. Koopman says.

Bishop Anagbe endorsed Mr. Smith’s effort in his letter to A.C.N. The resolution, he wrote, should “add pressure on Nigeria’s international partners and the government to address the silent persecution of Christians in our country.

Mr. Smith’s resolution also calls for the State Department to redesignate Nigeria as a “country of particular concern” because of religious freedom violations. Nigeria was dropped from the annual list of nations of concern in 2021, a move deplored by many advocates of religious freedom. And, despite the Christmas attacks and other violent incidents throughout 2023, Nigeria was not included on the 2024 list posted on Jan. 4 by Secretary of State Blinken. But “the utter neglect of the needs and safety of Christians,” Mr. Koopman said, suggests that Nigeria should be included with other states where religious persecution is tolerated or encouraged by governments.

The State Department’s decision was sharply criticized by the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom, which called for congressional hearings on the status of Nigeria and India, another nation not designated as a country of concern despite ongoing persecution of minority Muslim and Christian communities.(8)

Vice President Harris needs to answer many questions regarding her role, or the lack thereof, in her failure to address and execute outcome-oriented solutions to empower Nigerian leaders to end the inhumanity carried out by Islamic extremists against Christians. Kevin Clarke's article highlights the kinds of measures that need to be embraced, enacted, and enforced from the White House to Congress to our international partners in order to be effective against systemic evil. Moral indifference and selective outrage are inexcusable and indefensible, especially for someone of Harris' stature, who represents America, the world's standard for the advancement of freedom and democratic ideals as a Republic and safeguarded by the world's oldest and most enduring government charter, the U.S. Constitution (over 200 years old).

From the abortion atrocities of the unborn to the oppression and persecution of Nigerian Christians, Kamala's career in politics and government is permeated by indifference and disregard toward the slaughter of innocent life when the prevailing issues do not square with her partisan liberal agenda. In this regard, Kamala's duty to act is less about objective, universal moral standards and principles, virtue, and the intrinsic value of persons and more about her preferences for intersectionality, political self-interest, and a debauched emphasis on political protests and social movements as tools of democracy, which she distorts and misrepresents incessantly. If Vice President Harris finds it fitting to be an outspoken critic against global atrocities and injustices that are only valid if they are in keeping with her liberal political agenda, her silence on this despicable evil in particular is political malpractice and politically disqualifying...period.

See similar article with similar findings from January 2024 Catholic News Agency, Biden administration criticized for omitting Nigeria from religious persecution watchlist which gives an exhaustive treatment of the Nigerian Christian persecution catastrophe and why removal from the government watchlist is incredulous, inhumane, and irresponsible for both the U.S. and Nigerian governments:

The Christian population has increasingly come under fire in recent years and has been targeted by several Islamic terrorist groups, such as Boko Haram, the Islamic State West Africa Province, and radical groups of the Fulani ethnic tribe.

According to the State Department’s report, there were over 4,000 Christians killed, 3,300 abducted, and 100,000 displaced in Nigeria between October 2022 and September 2023.

The Nigerian government has largely turned a blind eye to these attacks, in many cases refusing to dispatch police or military forces until well after attacks have occurred.

Since Kamala's entrance into the 2024 presidential race, she has frequently referenced the importance of "freedom" in her attempt to elevate herself as the self-proclaimed freedom fighter. From the title, you already know that I profoundly disagree with Kamala's false bravado when it comes to the way she flirts with and flaunts her version of "freedom". Nevertheless, there's no denying that her campaign platform centers around freedom and civil liberties, and she believes that she is the answer to restoring freedom to the masses.

In the release of Kamala's initial campaign ad, Beyonce's Grammy nominated song Freedom was featured and became the official song for her 2024 presidential campaign. The ad itself reads as follows:

"I'm Kamala Harris, and I'm running for President of the United States. In this election, we each face a question: What kind of country do we want to live in? There are some people who think we should be a country of chaos, of fear, of hate. But us, we choose something different. We choose freedom."

Ok, I get it...the song, the campaign theme: the connection is obvious in that two high-profile women are celebrating America's foremost value that has influenced American history from the Revolutionary War, to slavery and the Civil War, to today. Freedom in America has been a battleground for centuries with countless lives lost only to result in the triumphant restoration of human dignity and the fulfillment of our premier guiding documents, the Declaration of Independence, Bill of Rights, and the U.S. Constitution. In the immortal words of the late, great Martin Luther King Jr., Let Freedom Ring, and yes indeed, American freedom is truly the prize and envy of the world.

Interestingly, however, when you listen to Freedom by Beyonce, which again is Kamala's official presidential campaign song, the following lyrics are ironic and jaw-dropping, I'MA RIOT, I'MA RIOT, THROUGH YOUR BORDERS. In today's vernacular, we call this Foot in Mouth Disease and rightly so due to our current catastrophic situation at our southern border, especially given Kamala's status as the presiding "Border Czar". That said, do these lyrics serve as code for Kamala by signifying "freedom" for illegal immigrants crossing over to the U.S.? After all, she is on record for being a staunch advocate for the decriminalization of illegal immigration(1). Similarly, do these lyrics become marching orders for illegal border crossers, and if so, is she responsible for any rioting or violence that occurs hereafter along the U.S.-Mexico border? Time will tell as we watch and wait with these lyrics ringing loudly in our ears like a bad case of tinnitus.

In all seriousness, with all the celebratory freedom talk by "team Kamala", I find her approach flippant, misguided, and egregious. The freedom flaws are evident to the naked eye and detrimental to a proper and historically accurate understanding as formulated and treasured by America's founding fathers.

Joseph Loconte's timeless article Faith and Freedom: The Missing Link, written in 2000, exposes Kamala's flawed handling of the essence of America's founding and greatness. In the follow-up to his unpacking of the importance of faith and political liberty to a post-Revolutionary War America, Loconte brilliantly makes the following deduction:

The reason goes back to the Founders' view of democracy. Freedom depends on citizens who can govern themselves, which means freedom requires virtue. But it takes more than laws to sustain morality. It requires religion - not the enfeebled variety of an established church, but the muscular faith of individual believers and congregations exercised in the public square.

John Witherspoon, one of America's most inspiring and influential founding fathers, also a signatory to the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, gives historical context and meaning to Loconte's claim in this pithy but remarkable quote, "God grant in America true religion and civil liberty may be inseparable and the unjust attempts to destroy the one, may in the issue tend to the support and establishment of both." This from a man who carried the tiles of statesman, minister, and president of the College of New Jersey, which later became Princeton University. He was so honored and respected that John Adams once said that John Witherspoon was "as high a son of liberty as any man in America." (2)

Lastly, David J. Gowdy's excellent article reinforces what I have expressed thus far, but he goes one step further. Gowdy provides a historical backdrop that captures the prevailing faith-freedom sentiment of the early colonist.

John Adams stated it this way, “Public virtue cannot exist in a Nation without private Virtueand public Virtue is the only Foundation of Republics.” In this regard, the revolutionary war was as much a battle against “the corruption of 18th century British high society,” as it was against financial oppression.  While the Founders and American colonists were very concerned with their civil liberty and economic freedom, demanding “no taxation without representation,” they were equally concerned with their religious liberty, particularly in preserving their rights of individual conscience and public morality.  With respect to the vital need for virtue in order to establish and maintain a republic, the Founders were in complete harmony:

George Washington said: “Virtue or morality is a necessary spring of popular government,” and “Human rights can only be assured among a virtuous people.”

Benjamin Franklin said: “Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom.”

James Madison stated: “To suppose that any form of government will secure liberty or happiness without any virtue in the people, is a chimerical [imaginary] idea.”

For brevity's sake, I only provided three quotes from Gowdy's list, but you can go to the link below to read the full article and see all thirteen names and quotes, which is an impressive and compelling list. His Compilation successfully defends his argument and the crux of my position which is that freedom is not reducible to some flimsy, shallow, political talking point driven by electoral popularity or political posturing. This is the case with the Harris-Walz freedom fallacy and is why Gowdy's argument from history is still applicable and highly relevant to today's body politic. Theirs is a flagrant hijacking and misuse of freedom by liberal ideologues and a shameful ignoring of the historical foundation and all-important intersect between the indispensable ideals of faith and virtue as necessary conditions for the proper use of freedom so that our democratic republic endures "forever". From her official campaign ad to her campaign speeches, Harris fails to capture any of this and thus poses a serious risk to effectively promoting freedom in America in the spirit and intent of the founders. We can only hope that well-informed and well-intended citizens challenge her conceptualization as a corrective to Kamala's Freedom Fallacy for the common good and the preservation of American exceptionalism so as to honor freedom's heritage and Christian foundation without compromise.
